Effect of Mn on the chemical driving force and bainite transformation kinetics in medium-manganese alloys

Abstract This work presents insights into the manganese influence on driving force and bainite transformation kinetics. Three different medium-Mn steels were subjected to theoretical calculations dilatometric study in order determine Mn impact formation. The approach shows that increase of leads a lower fraction formed during isothermal stage. implicates carbon enrichment austenite thermal treatment. less is formed, higher residual which globally low. Meanwhile, influences incubation time. As content increases, period formation time are longer because chemical essential start complete decreases. was proved by analysis, show even small necessary occur bainitic transformation. For steel containing 5% manganese, too could after 3 h. Additionally, XRD analysis conducted retained its enrichment. These results compared with values accuracy applied model.
